Its Here!

For those who downloaded the BitTorrent, the password is:

-=()Phoenix_Bird()=-

If you did not download the BitTorrent, you can now download the regular, unpassworded, release version. If you are upgrading from FH 0.67 don't forget to delete your old version of Forgotten hope, before installing 0.7! Otherwise, you may have many problems playing 0.7.

If you are new to FH, be sure your copy of BF1942 has the latest patch, which is available on this page. The client files are compressed as .rar archives, and you will need an appropriate utility to unpack them bef9ore installing. If you do not have one, you can get winrar

New and old users alike, will need to install all three files, in order.before playing. They are all large files, and may take a long time to unpack and install. It may look at times like they have stopped working. Be patient, as it is likely that they are still functioning, and if you wait a few moments, they will resume activity.

Good luck and enjoy!

The file you download with bit torrent will have a password, that will not be revealed until the main release, which is currently scheduled for 1800 GMT on October 28th. The file is just over 2 gigabytes so it will be worthwile to get started early! Be patient though!, torrents take a while to pick up speed!

Forgotten Hope 0.7 BitTorrent File

If you have difficulty getting the above link to start, you might want to try this one:

Forgotten Hope 0.7 BitTorrent File alternative

For those of you who are not , it BitTorrent is a peer-to peer distribution tool that allows many people to download from each other simultaneously. This means the more people that are connected the faster the potential download speeds. If you are interested, you can read more about it here.

If you do not have a BitTorrent client, or have difficulty connecting, you might want to try Azureus, which is relatively easy to get started with, and has some interesting features. you can get Azureus here.

That's all for today, but be sure to keep watch for more goodies in the next few days. Until then, feel free to visit our public forums to discuss this update or complain about how long it is taking.

Hello, and welcome to another Forgotten Hope news update. The developers of Forgotten Hope are extremely happy to announce that Friday October 28, is the release date for Forgotten Hope 0.7 for Bf1942. If the impulse takes us we may make a small update in the future, or not, and of course we are still preparing another Fan Map Pack, but 0.7 is the last planned release for BF1942.

Of course, this is not the end of Forgotten Hope. Winston Churchill, who is almost as well known for his skill with words, as he is for leading Britain to victory in World War II, said these words after the final Battle for El Alamein:

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. but it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

Churchill meant that, even though the war was far from over, the difficult first phase was finished, and there was good reason to have optimism for the future. We feel the same way about Forgotten Hope. Getting to 0.7 was a long and difficult road, with many mistakes and difficulties, but the experience has made us all better. All the hard lessons learned working on Forgotten Hope, will make Forgotten Hope 2 a better mod than it could have been without them.

Before we show you all the new screens, We would like to thank a number of people. First of all, we would like to thank Dice and Electronic Arts for making Forgotten Hope possible in the first place. Next we would like to thank all the retired devs, especially Armin Ace, without whose past work we would not have gotten nearly as far. Also, we would like to thank all the groups which provided us with the support necessary to keep moving forwards. These include Bf1942files.com for providing our web space and development forum, BFE-WaW for providing testing support, Gamingforums.com for providing our public forum, Warumdarum.de for providing testing servers and file space, and Wolfgaming for providing a test server and a very busy FH game community. We would also like to thank our testers for their willingness to repeatedly download and test the same maps over and over while we worked out the bugs. Finally we would like to thank all of the fans, whose enthusiasm and criticism made all the hard work worthwhile.

OK, enough chatter...on the stuff. You may have thought we were all done with showing you new vehicles, but there is at least one more, the Type 87e. This was a civilian KDF wagen body placed on a kubelwagen chassis. Many were tropicalized and sent to Africa. The one in our render shows the desert "balloon" tires, and is marked as belonging to a propoganda company. PK units were combination war correspondent and psy-ops units, that reported on the the war as well as conducting propoganda operations on the enemy and their own troops. The Type 87e was modeled and skinned by Rad.

Next, we have a new wallpaper, prepared by Lobo and Rad based on some of Rad's models. They have obviously both been working too hard and are in need of a short rest. You can get some other sizes in the media section.

Next we have a selection of in-game screens. Most are new images of things you have seen before, but perhaps in a new context. If you look hard you may find a few completely new things, like the new camo Stug Skin by fan mapper/tester Mr_Cheese.

Before we finish for today, we want to show you a few new statics from Forgotten Hope 2, that will be populating miltary installions on many maps. These include camouflaged German pup-tents, tank barriers, wood and steel quonset huts, and an observation tower. The tower was originally modeled by Mange, the tank barriers were modeled by Lobo, and the huts and tents were modeled by Rad. All were skinned or adapted and re-skinned by Rad.

That's it for this week, please come back again next week for the release of 0.7. Until then, feel free to visit our public forums to discuss this update and other news.

Hello, and welcome to another Forgotten Hope news update. Some updates are about big maps and big vehicles, but this update is about getting up close and personal. Before we get any closer, I am pleased to announce a new addition to our team. Citizen Soldier will be helping make FH2 sound as good as it looks. Lets give him a warm welcome!

The first item today is collection of civilian home furnishings by Malsa. These will be found in civilian dwellings throughout the North African Theater in Forgotten Hope 2.

Normally we don't show the same vehicle twice in successive weeks, but these images were too interesting not to show. These close-up views of Rad's Panzer III Ausf N show off the power of normal mapping, in BF2's advanced lighting system.

Moving on to Forgotten Hope 0.7, we have a new vehicle for the Italian Army, the Camionetta 42 'Sahariana', which was skinned and modeled by Montoya. The Sahariana was a light transport vehicle that was used voth for recon vehicle and as a weapons carrier. Several Sahariana-equipped units were raised to operate against the British Long Range Desert Group, a role in which it performed well. The Forgotten Hope Sahariana comes in two flavors, an unarmed transport version, and an assault version armed with two Breda 37 mgs, and an armored windshield.

Last for today, we have a new map to show--Berlin Streets 1945, by King Rudolph. It is a grim, dark map of the final apocalyptic battle of World War II in Europe. Desperate German troops hopelessly fight to hold off the Soviet onslaught for just a few hours more. Armored vehicles can't win this map on their own, the outcome depends on the infantry, who must battle eyeball to eyeball for every shattered block.

That's it for this week, please come back again for our next update. Until then, feel free to visit our public forums to discuss this update and other news.

Hello, and welcome to the latest Forgotten Hope news update. Before we get started with the visuals, I am happy to announce the addition of three new members to the development team. First of all, we have Anlushac11 who will be coding and mapping, as well as contributing his encyclopedic knowledge of World War II. Second, we have Lightning, who will be running our betatest team, but has also been helping to fix the bugs that the testers identify. Finally, The Hail of Nails will be bringing his considerable modeling skills to Forgotten Hope. Please join us in welcoming the new guys to the team!

Next, I have an unusual treat--Lobo has prepared a special video demoing a new feature that will be included for certain items in 0.7--fully functional, 3D ironsights for MG42s, MG34s, static machine guns, and shaped-charge AT projectile weapons. The system was created by Zero and polished and implemented by Civius. We won't say any more about it, you will just have to watch.

An FH update wouldn't be complete without some sharp visuals. We are pretty sure that you will like these ones. Here are a few pics of Rad's Panzer III Ausf N, being put through its paces at the Forgotten Hope 2 desert proving grounds. Special thanks to D_Fast of the Point of Existence mod, who helped us get this beast in smooth operating condition.

That's all for this week, but be sure to come next week for our next update. Until then, feel free to visit our public forums to discuss this update and other news.
